I believe there are many lyricists out there who are looking for composers to write melodies for your lyrics.
I do not deny that technically this is a possible way to complete a song, but I would like to bring across that in the music industry, it is always the melody which is completed first, followed by the layering of lyrics.
For many decades, people argue over the importance of music vs lyrics. Actually both are important, just that their roles are different. Those who watched the movie "Music and Lyrics" should be able to remember what Sophie Fisher told Alex Fletcher. She said ,"The music gives the first impression of a person, but it is the lyric who tells you more about that person." I truly agree.
Actually there is a pop song which I personally believe that the music is wonderful but the lyric is quite meaningless. The whole lyric is written for the sake of rhyming. One part of it reads " ÓÐÒ»Ìì·¿ª´Çº£ÕÒ²»µ½°® »¨²»¿ªÊ÷²»°Ú»¹ÊǸü³©¿ì"
I wonder if you agree? =p

Are you able to layer lyrics onto a melody?
